Jomanda's World Children also donates money to the "Onderdak" foundation in Nicaragua.



Maria Rieche, a Dutch lady in her 70s, works for this foundation. Several years ago she sold her house and possessions in order to help less privileged people in Nicaragua.
At first she only worked in the orphanage, but she soon realized there were many more people who desperately needed help. Jomanda’s World Childeren doneert ook aan de Stichting Onderdak in Nicaraqua

 

After extensive deliberation with various people and authorities she has begun a project to build new houses for the poorest people living in the slums. Maria Rieche supplies the building materials and people have to build their own house, possibly with help from neighbours. Of course, problems do arise, but once these houses are completed the beds will also be supplied.

So far, fourteen of these houses have already been built with the help of donations from Jomanda's World Children.
